Julia Vlahogiannis was born in Sydney in 1999. She is currently in her 3rd year studying a Bachelor of Music Education (Composition Major) 2021 at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Her works have been performed by ensembles throughout Sydney by Geist String Quartet, Jaggex Guitar Quintet and university made ensembles.
Julia’s work “Opus” for string quartet was premiered at the Sydney Jewish Museum, played by Gesit String Quartet, featuring lya Isakovich from The Australian Chamber orchestra (ACO).
Julia has won the “Emerging Composer Award” through the Matt Withers Composition Competition 2020. Her work will be recorded by ABC Classic and performed in recital around Australia in 2021.
As the Associate Composer for the Macquarie University Symphony Orchestra, she has composed and arranged works to be played in concert. As well as composing, she has a deep love for arranging works from different composers.
She has worked closely with clients to bring beautiful arrangements to life. This includes, jazz ensembles, orchestras and ensembles.
Julia is currently working on a commissioned work for “The Soulmate Connection”, where she is working in collaboration with, to create meditation music as part of an app.
Julia's influences derive from the genres of jazz, pop, western classical music, greek, neo-soul and many more sub genres. Her exploration of different genres is extremely prominent, and loves to immerse herself with every genre of music to create the best music for everyone.
